Child Safeguarding & Protection Policy
Because Friends of Orphans Support Network processes information about children and vulnerable persons, child safeguarding, privacy, and data protection are treated as mandatory system imperatives.
Zero Tolerance for Child Harm or Data Exploitation
FOSN has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse, exploitation, negligence, and non-consensual exposure of minors. Every member of staff, field volunteer, and partner must undergo background vetting and sign our Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
1. Prohibition of Public Indexing of Sensitive Child Data
No full names, home residential addresses, legal parentage certificates, or detailed medical records of children are ever indexed publicly by search engines or displayed openly on donor pages. Public verified needs use strictly safeguarded identifiers (e.g., “Beneficiary B.O. (Age 9), Yenagoa”).
2. Legal Consent & Privacy Protocols
Beneficiary intake requires verified legal consent from recognized guardians, caregivers, or registered orphanage directors. Caregivers retain the constitutional right to request updates, review, or withdraw consent at any time without punitive consequences.
3. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) & Audit Logging
Access to full case records is strictly restricted across 12 granular roles. Ordinary donors or volunteers cannot access identifiable child case files. Every view, export, or status change performed by an administrator is logged into an immutable security audit trail.
4. Field Conduct & Physical Visit Safety
FOSN field officers never conduct unannounced private one-on-one visits without the presence of the verified caregiver, teacher, or orphanage matron. Photographing children for public storytelling requires explicit, signed consent and must portray the child in dignified, empowering contexts.
